Javier Milei inaugurated the 144th regular session of the Congress with a speech focused on consolidating a lasting strategic alliance with the United States, deepening structural reforms and ratifying the economic direction of his administration.
During a presentation of one hour and 42 minutes, the President stated that the bilateral link must transcend political conjunctures and become State policy. “That's what we're building with the United States. This isn't just an agreement between President Donald Trump and President Milei. It has to do with cultural affinity and strategic objectives between two countries and across the region,” he said
.A “century of the Americas” and the South Atlantic as a strategic axis
Milei projected a “century of the Americas”, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, and highlighted the relevance of the South Atlantic as a central stage for future strategic disputes, linked to trade routes, natural resources and maritime
sovereignty.In this framework, he anticipated that he will send initiatives to strengthen coordination between security and intelligence forces, with the objective of protecting national interests in the face of growing global competition.
Defense of fiscal adjustment and macroeconomic order
At the economic level, the president defended the adjustment implemented since the beginning of his administration. He argued that the main problem in assuming was the fiscal deficit and the monetary issue that fueled inflation
.“In our first month, we eliminated a fiscal deficit of 5% of GDP,” he stressed, while assuring that this shift allowed us to start a stabilization process without resorting to expropriation, default or hyperinflation.
