President Javier Milei reaffirmed his commitment to the "moral contract" he sealed with Argentinians during his campaign and defended the progress of his economic, political, and social program. "My intention is to fulfill the contract with the people. The things I said I was going to do, I'm doing them. I said I was going to lower inflation, and I did," the president stated in an interview with Gabriel Anello on Radio Mitre, where he also presented the journalist with the "official presidential cap", a symbol of closeness to the citizenry.
On the international stage, Milei emphasized the importance of the agreement reached with the United States Treasury, led by Scott Bessent, whom he compared to Lionel Messi for his talent and vision: "He is a person who understands the root nature of the problem, he was very generous with me, both in Buenos Aires and during the Global Citizen speech."
The president explained that the financial operation agreed with Washington is organized into three blocks: a swap that will provide liquidity, the possibility of acquiring securities in the secondary market and sharing profits, and the option to purchase debt in the primary market.
"When we lifted the currency controls, I said we had to clean up the BCRA's liabilities. Toto Caputo told me he thought it was exaggerated, but I replied that it wasn't, because if they can do harm, they will. That's why we built a wall to protect the economy of Argentinians," Milei explained, alluding to the central role of his Minister of Economy in the financial shielding strategy.
