Javier Milei will eliminate 24 agencies and merge more than 15 structures through a DNU
The government has prepared a DNU that will eliminate 24 inefficient and wasteful state agencies
President Javier Milei advances in the country with his plan to reduce the State with a Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) that will dissolve 24 agencies, merge more than 15 structures, and transform around 16 throughout the state administration.
The measure, driven by the minister of State Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger, has been reviewed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, José Rolandi, and the Secretary of Strategic Planning, María Ibarzabal. Currently, the text is in the Legal and Technical Secretariat, under the supervision of Javier Herrera Bravo, and only awaits the president's signature for its publication in the Official Gazette.
The adjustment seeks to end inefficient bureaucracy and eliminate agencies that have operated for years as political boxes without a real impact on the citizenry. From the Casa Rosada, some officials indicate that the DNU will affect 55 agencies, while others assure that the final number will be 58.
The truth is that the original project contemplated the elimination of more than 110 structures, but after a technical analysis, the Executive decided to reduce that figure without losing sight of the central objective.

One of the most important entities that will disappear is the National Institute of Indigenous Affairs (INAI), which has 181 employees and a budget of $4.847 billion. Part of its functions will be absorbed by the Chief of Staff of Guillermo Francos, while the recognition of indigenous communities will pass to the provinces.
Another agency that will be eliminated is the National Institute of Youth (INJUVE), which operates under the orbit of the Ministry of Human Capital, led by Sandra Pettovello. The National Institute of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), which has 37 employees and a budget of $12.143 billion, will also disappear. In this case, the Government is considering transferring part of its functions to Marca País.

Additionally, the Executive is studying the centralization of the 12 institutes that depend on the Secretariat of Culture, headed by Leonardo Cifelli, to reduce the structure and improve its efficiency. Despite the cut, the Government has decided not to advance on certain strategic agencies. Among the entities that will not be affected by the DNU are: universities, CONICET, ANLIS, ANMAT, INPI, INCAA, ENACOM, ARN, CONAE, CNEA, CONEAU, CNV, INCUCAI, UIF, and INTA.
Article 52 of the Law Bases establishes that employees of eliminated or modified agencies will maintain their salary for one year, with the possibility of being relocated to other state dependencies. This way, Milei's Government deactivates any attempt at alarmist narratives about mass layoffs and demonstrates that the reorganization of the State is carried out with responsibility and planning.
