Jeff Bezos sent his fiancée and Katy Perry to space
Singer Katy Perry participated in the journey. The space company owned by Amazon's owner is trying to compete with Elon Musk
In a move that marked the private space race, Blue Origin sent a crew composed solely of women into space, including celebrities like Katy Perry and Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos's partner. The journey lasted 11 minutes and was the first all-female crewed mission since 1963.
The NS-31 mission became a milestone not only for the company of the Amazon founder but also for the aerospace sector, as it was the first time in more than six decades that a spacecraft launched with a 100% female crew.
A flight with stars on board
The launch occurred at 10:30 AM (Argentina time) and reached more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) in altitude, which briefly positioned the group outside Earth's atmosphere.

Among the participants were singer Katy Perry and Lauren Sánchez, journalist and Jeff Bezos's fiancée. Also part of the crew were Gayle King, host of CBS Mornings; Kerianne Flynn, film producer; Amanda Nguyen, bioastronautics expert; and Aisha Bowe, NASA space scientist.
After returning, they all agreed on their experience during weightlessness: they described it as "very pleasant and peaceful."

Blue Origin doubles down against SpaceX
Blue Origin, founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos, has been consolidating its presence in the space tourism industry. Its first crewed flight took place in 2021 without professional astronauts, which opened the door to commercial missions like this one.
With this female initiative, the company made clear its intention to differentiate itself and, at the same time, compete directly with SpaceX, Elon Musk's firm, and Virgin Galactic, owned by British Richard Branson.
This new achievement aims to strengthen Blue Origin's image and position Bezos's company as a key player in the race to lead the space tourism and media space.
