Jorge Macri's government announced the new 'sustainable and electric' buses.

They cost millions of dollars and will be managed exclusively by women

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires, led by Jorge Macri, once again celebrated the arrival of "eBus" buses, which are "inclusive," "sustainable," and "electric," costing millions of dollars and will be driven exclusively by women.

On social media, the spokesperson for the City Government, Laura Alonso, posted: "The eBus is coming to traverse the Historic Center of the City. It's the first step toward the decarbonization of transport. Accessible, sustainable, and electric. From Retiro to Parque Lezama. Buenos Aires always projecting into the future".

These new buses had caused strong criticism toward Macri's Government weeks ago, as they represent a new episode of waste of public resources.

The controversy is not only about spending millions of dollars on a fleet of electric buses but also about the unusual and questionable details of them, which reveal the lack of common sense and the deepening of an ideological agenda that raises more doubts than solutions.

Macri's buses

According to the information provided by the Minister of Infrastructure, Pablo Bereciartua, these buses, which are already on their way to Argentina directly from China, have an autonomy of 170 km and a maximum speed of 12 km/h.

This last fact is especially relevant because, in a world where speed and efficiency of public transport are essential, the City Government decides to implement a means of transport that moves slower than a bicycle. And all this, of course, at a cost of billions of pesos, paid by the taxpayers of Buenos Aires.

But the waste and madness don't end there. In a clear attempt to meet ideological demands, Jorge Macri's Government determined that these buses will be driven exclusively by women.

This measure is not only unnecessary and discriminatory but also sets a dangerous precedent for public policy based on gender instead of merit and efficiency. Are men supposed to be unable to work as drivers in the public transport system? Are they being denied a job opportunity based on gender?

This exclusive approach only demonstrates a lack of consideration on Jorge Macri's part toward equality before the law for all citizens, regardless of their gender.

Furthermore, the argument that these buses "improve the frequency of public service" seems hardly credible, since considering that the maximum speed of these vehicles will be 12 km/h, it is likely that the service will end up being even slower and less efficient than traditional buses, instead of offering a true improvement in the quality of public transport in the City.

With a million-dollar investment in an impractical, slow transport system with clear discriminatory implications, Jorge Macri's Buenos Aires government once again demonstrates its tendency to prioritize leftist ideological agendas over efficiency, equality before the law, and the well-being of all citizens.
