Jorge Taiana, former left-wing terrorist and current first candidate for deputy for Buenos Aires province in the October legislative elections for Fuerza Patria, is facing harsh criticism after a photograph went viral in which he appears alongside Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
The image, taken during his tenure as Foreign Minister under the government of the corrupt former president Cristina Kirchner, represents the friendly stance of Kirchnerism toward left-wing authoritarian regimes such as Maduro's, denounced by multiple international organizations for human rights violations, including political repression, arbitrary detentions, and torture.
Currently, according to reports from the United States Department of Justice, the Venezuelan dictator, along with other high-ranking officials of his regime, leads the so-called "Cartel de los Soles", one of the largest narco-terrorist groups in the world. This criminal organization is associated with other groups such as the Cartel de Sinaloa and FARC dissidents.

In response to these accusations, the United States government offered a reward of up to 50 million dollars for information leading to Maduro's capture, the largest reward ever offered by the North American country.
The relationship between Argentina and the Chavista dictatorship was very close during the governments of Néstor and Cristina Kirchner, of which Taiana, now a Kirchnerist candidate for the October elections, was a part.
