Amid the reports linking him to a possiblereturn to Real Madrid,José Mourinho was blunt and ruled out any kind of contact with the Spanish club. The current coach of Benfica emphasized that he is not in talks with any institution and that he will not do so until the season in Portugal ends.
"I have had no contact with Real Madrid, I have not had it and, until the last league match against Estoril, I will not have it either. After that, there is a one-week window in which I will have the freedom to talk to whoever I deem appropriate", the Portuguese coach assured at a press conference, ahead of the match against Braga.
Mourinho insisted that his stance is a personal decision at a crucial point in the calendar. "I have had no contact with the president or with any of the important people in the structure. And by my decision, especially now that we are in the final phase of the season, I do not talk to anyone", he emphasized.
Mourinho denied contacts with Real Madrid.
The coach, who managed the Madrid team between 2010 and 2013, also downplayed the reports that circulated in recent weeks about meetings or demands to take on the role. "All the news that has come out, the demands, the meetings, all are speculations", he stated.
In the same vein, he added: "In the world of football, it is not the professionals who are interested in going or not going, it is the clubs that initiate or do not initiate the procedures to have the people they want".
Meanwhile, Benfica is preparing to face the penultimate round of the Primeira Liga against Braga, aiming to secure the second place. With no chance of taking the title from Porto, the Lisbon team has 76 points, the same as Sporting, and is fighting for a spot in the preliminary round of the next Champions League.
In this context, for now, Mourinho's future will remain in suspense at least until after the last match of the championship, when the possibility of negotiating and defining his next destination opens up.
