Juan Pedro Aleart won in Rosario as a convention member for La Libertad Avanza

With 31.46% of the votes, Aleart prevailed in a key election to reform the Constitution of Santa Fe

In the context of the constituent elections in the province of Santa Fe, Juan Pedro Aleart became one of the great surprises of the electoral day by being elected as departmental convention member for Rosario.

Representing La Libertad Avanza and with more than 88% of the tables counted,  the former journalist obtained 31.46% of the votes, surpassing traditional forces and  consolidating the growth of the libertarian space in the Santa Fe territory.

The election took place in the context of the process called to reform the provincial Constitution, which hasn't been modified since 1962. Each department chose its representatives to join the constituent convention, which will be responsible for debating the proposed changes to the provincial Magna Carta. In that scheme, Rosario, due to its demographic and political weight, was one of the most observed districts.

A victory with political impact

Aleart's performance marks a milestone for La Libertad Avanza in Santa Fe. Of profession journalist, Aleart presented himself as a figure outside traditional politics, and his campaign focused on proposals for institutional transparency, term limits, and greater citizen control over government actions.

The constituent convention: next steps

The convention will be composed of 50 members, who will have to draft the new constitutional text. Although the governor's re-election clause won't be reviewed —as established in the call for reform—, there is expectation for topics such as:

  • Reform of the Council of the Magistracy.
  • Municipal autonomy.
  • Incorporation of direct democracy mechanisms.
  • Limitation of political privileges.

A rising political figure

Aleart's emergence in provincial politics consolidates a phenomenon that has been replicating at the national level: the sustained growth of candidates identified with libertarian ideas. In that context, his election as a convention member could be the prelude to a greater projection in the legislative or executive field of Santa Fe.

"I already voted, with the hope of taking a big step toward FREEDOM in the Constitution and in the City," Aleart concluded on his social media after casting his vote.
