Julieta Ortega broke her silence: 'I was afraid my brother would die from drugs'

The actress spoke candidly about Martín Ortega's tough battle with addictions and his recent hospitalization

Actress Julieta Ortega publicly addressed her brother's delicate health condition, Martín Ortega, who was hospitalized due to addiction problems at the end of April. During an interview with Puro Show, she spoke about his struggle from a place of absolute sincerity, without hiding the suffering or the relief her family is currently experiencing.

"He's safe now" were her first words when asked about Martín's current situation. For her, hospitalization was not only inevitable but completely necessary. She reaffirmed that both he and his inner circle gained peace of mind by taking this decisive step.

"The concern was seeing him using, not now"

Julieta appeared calm but firm as she explained that the real anguish was before, when her brother was still using and not receiving professional help. "I was worried when he was out and using, now I'm relieved," she said honestly.

For the daughter of Palito Ortega and Evangelina Salazar, the hospitalization process marked a positive turning point: "The concern is when you see a loved one destroying themselves. Once they're hospitalized, not using substances that destroy them, everything is joy for me."

The actress made it clear that she had no qualms about exposing what the Ortega family has experienced in recent times. She shared that the worst thought that crossed her mind was the real possibility of losing her brother. "I was afraid he was going to die. Like every addict. There's not much way around drugs, you know?" she stated.

A difficult but necessary process

Martín Ortega's hospitalization took place at the end of April. Although the family initially chose discretion, over time they began to speak openly about the issue. Today, both Julieta and other media members of the Ortega clan advocate for normalizing these processes and removing the stigma from mental health and addictions.

Julieta's bluntness contrasts with the initial secrecy. She acknowledged how serious the situation had been and how Martín's deterioration worried everyone. However, hope now prevails: "He's well, he's better, he's where he needs to be," she affirmed.

Today, Martín Ortega's present is being rebuilt step by step, with family support and under professional treatment.
