After almost two months in detention, Jorge Rial's daughter obtained authorization to use her own phone
Compartir:
52 days after her arrest, Morena Rial managed to gain access to a cell phone inside the Magdalena prison.
The decision came after several requests from her defense, led by attorney Martín Leiro, who visited DDM (América) this Thursday to explain the conditions under which the media personality will be able to use the device.
"I went to see her today regarding the phone issue. Thanks to the court's quick action, it's very likely that today the unit will authorize her to use the cell phone," the attorney reported.
According to his explanation, Morena was at a disadvantage compared to other inmates: "The other detainees have cell phones 24 hours a day. She only had it for two or three hours a day."
The unusual rules Morena Rial must follow to keep her cell phone
The court established two strict restrictions to authorize the use of the phone:
She is prohibited from accessing any of her social media accounts.
She can't have contact with the press.
According to Leiro, to prevent violations, Morena's Instagram accounts were completely blocked: "What is published there doesn't come from her. She is not the one managing her social media accounts."
Despite these strict rules, the attorney assured that the measure has notably improved the media personality's mood.
More Rial utilizaría el teléfono para comunicarse con sus hijos y su padre
"She has had it for a week and Morena is completely changed. She is well and happy, she talks a lot with her father, she gets emotional, she cries," he recounted.
He added that communication with Jorge Rial marked a key point in her progress: "She is reconnecting with him while he is on vacation. It is something very positive for her life."
The judicial setback: she was denied house arrest
Meanwhile, as her daily life continues in prison, Morena remains awaiting updates in the case for which she is detained.
However, the situation became more complicated on October 29, when Judge Andrea Rodríguez Mentasti rejected the request for house arrest submitted by her defense and ordered that she remain in pretrial detention.
In the ruling, released by journalist Mauro Szeta, the magistrate stated: "It has been established that the defendant failed to comply with the imposed guidelines and it was verified that she did not reside at the designated address. She also exposed the minor to a risk context related to the investigated illicit activity, contrary to the best interest that was intended to be protected."
