The court declared the trial for Diego Maradona's death null and void.

After the scandal involving Judge Makintach over her documentary about the case, for which she was also removed and suspended, it was decided to return to square one

The Oral Criminal Court (TOC) No. 3 of San Isidro declared the trial for the death of Diego Maradona null and void, following the scandal sparked by Judge Julieta Makintach's participation in a documentary, which led to her removal from the case and a 90-day suspension ordered by the Supreme Court. The date for the start of a new trial has yet to be determined.

With this decision, made by Judges Maximiliano Savarino and Verónica Di Tommaso, the case returns to square one. The hearing began this Thursday at noon and the appearance of the seven defendants was expected for the alleged crime of simple homicide with eventual intent against the Argentine idol.

Makintach's removal

The Supreme Court of the Province of Buenos Aires ordered a 90-day suspension for Judge Makintach for maintaining "conduct far from sobriety" by starring in an alleged documentary based on the oral trial conducted in Court No. 3 of San Isidro regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona. The magistrate was recused and faces complaints before the Magistrates' Council.

According to resolution 1376/25, the highest court in Buenos Aires Province ordered "the granting of a leave of absence for a period of ninety (90) days starting today to Dr. Julieta Makintach" and ordered the proceedings to be sent to the Attorney General for evaluation of the magistrate's actions, in the context of the accusations against her.

The decision was made after analyzing the information gathered about the latest events involving the judge in relation to the production of a documentary called "Justicia Divina" in which she was the main protagonist in the context of the trial she was conducting regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona.
