The video of Judge Julieta Makintach was leaked; she is being filmed for the Maradona trial.
Julieta Makintach appeared in recordings without official authorization and faces a possible criminal charge
The trial over Diego Maradona's death was suspended after videos recorded inside the courtroom were released. The images, released, showed Judge Julieta Makintach in her office, walking through the courthouse, and even speaking from her car.
The commotion was not only due to her appearance on camera, but also because everything indicated that they were part of a documentary filmed without official authorization. This incident triggered an institutional scandal that forced the Oral Criminal Court No. 3 of San Isidro to halt the proceedings for a week.
The controversy behind the filming
According to reports, a friend of the magistrate stated that the footage was not part of a judicial documentary, but rather a personal interview about her role as a woman and judge. However, the images also showed her sharing the scene with Fernando Burlando and Maradona's daughters, Dalma and Gianinna, which raised doubts about the real purpose of the audiovisual project.
The focus of the conflict was not her role as a judge in legal terms, but the decision to allow or facilitate the recordings inside the courthouse. The lack of official authorization raised alarms. For many, this incident broke the impartiality required in such a high-profile trial as Maradona's death.
Makintach could face serious charges such as breach of public official duties, malfeasance, incompatible negotiations, and even illicit association.

A profile that combined justice, social media, and cameras
Despite her previously low profile in the media, Julieta Makintach was not unfamiliar with public exposure. Active on social media and a participant in programs such as Mujeres en Derecho, she had been building a public image with a gender perspective.
She recently celebrated her 25 years in the judiciary and eight as a criminal judge. On LinkedIn, she expressed that interpreting the law was a privilege for her. She described herself as a professional who seeks to balance the rights of the victim, the accused, and society.
Daughter of Judge Juan Makintach and sister of a partner at the production company Pegsa—initially identified as linked to the filming—Julieta has family ties to the judicial and audiovisual worlds. This relationship also aroused suspicion.
Since 1998, she has served in the Judiciary and, since 2017, has been a member of the Oral Criminal Court No. 2 of San Isidro. On Tuesday, her continuation in the proceedings will be decided. The Maradona family's defense and attorney Rodolfo Baqué had already requested her removal.
The controversy left the trial paralyzed and the magistrate under scrutiny. Not because of her rulings, but because of her exposure. The camera did not just capture images: it put her continuity as a judge in jeopardy.
