Axel Kicillof's administration authorized the businessman's air transfer, in contrast with the 2024 case

The transfer of businessman Alberto Samid from Uruguay to Argentina, by means of a medical flight, placed the use of medical air resources in the province of Buenos Aires under the administration of Axel Kicillof at the center of controversy, especially because of the contrast with the case that occurred in 2024, when a child in critical condition did not receive the same assistance.
Yesterday, Buenos Aires Province Health Minister Nicolás Kreplak publicly confirmed that he communicated with Samid, who was hospitalized in Uruguay after suffering a urinary infection that worsened due to the detection of a rare virus in his blood. Faced with that situation, the Kirchnerist administration organized an operation to transfer him on a medical flight to Buenos Aires.
The businessman's own inner circle had requested the governor's direct intervention. “I urgently ask the governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, the Peronist mayors, and all our comrades to help us with this matter. It is urgent. Alberto needs to be in his country, cared for by his doctors,” his wife, Marisa, stated in a publicly released communiqué.

The 2024 case
The confirmation of the medical operation highlighted the availability of this type of resource when there is a political decision to use it. However, this decision stands in stark contrast to what happened in 2024 with a child who had suffered a serious accident in the city of Mercedes, within the Province of Buenos Aires.
In that episode, the minor had initially been treated at the Blas L. Dubarry Hospital and underwent emergency neurosurgery due to the severity of his condition. Given the urgent need to transfer him to a higher-complexity center such as Garrahan Hospital, the use of the provincial medical helicopter was requested. However, the air transfer was rejected twice by Kicillof's government.

As a consequence of that refusal, the child had to be transferred by land, in a critical condition and with a delay that posed an additional risk to his life. At that time, the provincial government had argued that the helicopter was reserved for other uses, mainly linked to police operations.
The contrast between both episodes is evident. While in the recent case the provincial government organized an international medical flight to transfer Samid from Uruguay, in the case of the minor that occurred in 2024 it did not authorize the use of the same resource within Buenos Aires Province's own territory, despite it being a medical emergency, exposing the marked difference in Kicillof's response to critical situations.
