The highly anticipated title Killer Inn, which combines action, deduction, and multiplayer strategy, is preparing for its second closed beta on Steam, available from October 3 to 13, 2025.

After the success of its first phase in July, Square Enix and Tactic Studios announced that this new stage will include significant technical improvements, balance adjustments, and new features designed based on community feedback.

Access to the closed beta on Steam

Those who participated in the first beta will receive automatic access to this new phase, while those interested in trying the game for the first time must register on the official Steam page before October 1. Selected participants will be notified on the same day the test begins.

Additionally, attendees at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, which will be held from September 25 to 28 in Japan, will be able to play an early version of the beta at the Square Enix booth and will receive an exclusive code to participate on Steam.

Main updates and adjustments

The first closed beta made it possible to identify areas for improvement in gameplay dynamics. Among the changes announced for this second phase, the following stand out:

  • Rebalancing between wolves and lambs to offer fairer matches.
  • New investigation tools which expand the collection of evidence such as footprints, clothing, and hair.
  • Improvements to the elimination mechanic and adjustments to the clues available to strengthen the deduction component.
  • Stronger collaboration options encouraging cooperation among players within each team.

Square Enix confirmed that the feedback collected during this stage will be key to perfecting the final version of the game.

A real-time mystery experience

In Killer Inn, 24 players live together in an ancient castle where they must alternate between predator and victim roles. The "wolves" seek to eliminate the "lambs" in secret, while the lambs must work as a team to gather evidence and unmask the infiltrators.

The mix of stealth, tension, and cooperation offers dynamic matches where trust among teammates can change at any moment.

Impact on the community and development

Closed betas not only allow players early access to the title but also serve as a key tool for refining the final product. With active community feedback, Tactic Studios seeks to build an experience that balances fun, tension, and strategy, establishing Killer Inn as one of the most innovative bets in the social deduction multiplayer genre.
