Rematch delays crossplay indefinitely due to a serious technical issue in the game
Sloclap detected an issue in the matchmaking system and decided to postpone the highly anticipated Patch 3
The video game Rematch, which revolutionized the sports genre with its futuristic soccer style and already has more than five million players, is once again at the center of controversy. The studio Sloclap has confirmed a new indefinite delay in the launch of crossplay, the most anticipated feature by the community, due to a critical issue in the matchmaking system.
Patch 3, initially scheduled for late August and then rescheduled for September 3, was supposed to include crossplay and key gameplay adjustments. However, the studio has decided to suspend it again without setting a release date, which has caused growing discontent among fans.
The technical error that halted the launch

According to an official statement from Sloclap, the delay is due to a serious matchmaking problem detected in the final testing phase. Matchmaking is essential in competitive titles like Rematch, as it ensures balanced and stable matches between players on different platforms.
"Crossplay is the core of Patch 3 and we can't release it until this issue is solved," the studio stated, asking for patience and promising to provide updates when a definitive solution is achieved.
What Patch 3 included besides crossplay
Beyond crossplay, the update included adjustments to the volley system to reduce unrealistic movements and limit the extra power in aerial shots, which the community considered excessive. These modifications aimed to offer a more balanced and fair game, along with the possibility of expanding the variety of opponents thanks to the merging of player bases across all platforms.
The delay, however, postpones not only the arrival of crossplay but also these improvements that had been celebrated in specialized forums.

The players' reaction
Discontent among users is growing after two consecutive postponements. Many believe that crossplay is vital for the long-term health of the title, as it prevents community fragmentation by platform.
Meanwhile, players who were hoping to connect with friends on other devices will have to keep waiting. Sloclap has not provided concrete timelines and the lack of certainty increases the pressure on the studio, which faces the challenge of balancing technical quality with the immediate expectations of its massive user base.
