The murder of David Elías Ojeda Vázquez, the 23-year-old who was shot by two violent motorcycle thieves disguised as delivery workers in José C. Paz, has once again deepened the internal conflict within Kirchnerism and the tense relationship between the municipality and the provincial governor, Axel Kicillof.

After the crime, local authorities issued a statement demanding that the Kirchnerist governor take charge of the situation and improve security in the district.

Ojeda was murdered on Monday night at the intersection of Polonia and Piñero. The young man was returning from the gym on his motorcycle when two criminals dressed as delivery workers attacked him from behind with gunfire. The killers stole his vehicle and left him dying. Minutes later, he died at the Mercante Hospital.

Given the seriousness of the incident, the Municipality of José C. Paz publicly demanded answers from the provincial government. The statement was signed by Miguel Narváez, General Director of Security, and Lorena Espina, interim mayor of the district.

"The Municipality expresses its deep sorrow over Ojeda's death and stands in respect and solidarity with his family and loved ones", local authorities stated before making their main demand to the governor.

"In light of the seriousness of what happened, we demand that the governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, reinforce security throughout the territory of the Province of Buenos Aires and especially in our district", they expressed.

The statement also comes amid the political dispute between Kicillof and Mario Ishii, the historic political chief of José C. Paz. Ishii is currently on leave from the municipality due to his appointment to the provincial Senate, but he maintains his political influence in the district. From his new legislative role, he has also engaged in various clashes with the governor in recent months.

The message against Kicillof

The Kirchnerist authorities of José C. Paz also emphasized that the municipality is making "efforts" with its own resources to sustain security tasks. They indicated that they even provide "fuel for the provincial vehicles as well as their repair to maintain the functioning of the Buenos Aires Police".

The message concluded with a direct challenge to the provincial administration and a request for it to take charge of security.

"Security requires immediate actions, and it is the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires that must assume total and complete responsibility, guaranteeing it for all the neighbors of José C. Paz", concluded the statement signed by Espina and Narváez.
