Konami confirms that 'Metal Gear Solid Delta' opens the door to more remakes
Konami revealed that Metal Gear Solid Delta is not just a remake: it is preparing the future of the franchise with new games
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28 and has already become a turning point for the saga. More than just a remake, it serves as the first step toward the franchise's future without Hideo Kojima.
Producers Noriaki Okamura and Yuji Korekado stated in an interview with Rolling Stone that Delta can serve as training for new developers.

Why did Konami choose a remake instead of a new game?
Okamura was clear: the decision was made after seeing that new generations of players were unfamiliar with Metal Gear. The remake allows newcomers to start from the first part in the chronology and then move forward with titles like the Master Collection Vol. 1.
"We wanted to preserve the legacy," explained the producer, who also acknowledged that the veteran team now has fewer years to develop new projects. For this reason, the idea was to pass the baton to the company's young talents.
Delta as a training ground for future creators
Konami's strategy is for the remake to function as practical learning. The new creative team will experience building a Metal Gear, understand what players expect, and identify common frustrations.

According to Korekado, this process will take time, but the ultimate goal is for the young team to create new original installments of the saga. The plan aims for solid continuity and to expand the universe with fresh ideas.
The future of the saga and Kojima's projects
Meanwhile, Hideo Kojima is preparing Physint, a game that will be a spiritual sequel to Metal Gear for PlayStation 5. Although it is in the conceptual stage, it is expected to arrive after OD, his next release in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios.
