In an interview with the newspaper Marca, Aymeric Laporte stated that the Albiceleste plays with an intensity that, in his view, often exceeds the allowed limit.
The defender maintained that during the World Cup he observed actions that, in his opinion, were not correctly sanctioned and asserted that the referee must impose authority to prevent the match from getting out of control.
Laporte's statements quickly generated repercussions, and one of the first to respond was Sergio Agüero, who shared a locker room with the defender during his time at Manchester City.
In a broadcast of the program Vamo' a jugar, the former Argentine forward responded with irony: "Aymeric, we played together at Manchester City. You say you saw things that surprised you. What is it that surprises you? Don't act tough because when we see each other, you back down."
