Larian Studios, responsible for one of the biggest recent phenomena in gaming with Baldur’s Gate 3, made a splash at The Game Awards 2025 with the official announcement of Divinity, its next major release. The Belgian studio arrives at this new project after the resounding success achieved in 2023, when its acclaimed RPG sold over 15 million copies and completely transformed the reach of the genre.
Although the trailer presented did not reveal concrete details about the gameplay, it did hint at the predominant aesthetic: a dark fantasy, a characteristic hallmark of Larian. The studio revealed that it will be its “biggest game yet,” although it did not confirm whether it is a direct sequel within the Divinity universe or a completely new reinterpretation.
An announcement anticipated by the community
During the lead-up to the event, expectations multiplied for a possible Larian reveal. Geoff Keighley, organizer and host of The Game Awards, fueled speculation by posting the image of a mysterious statue that quickly caught the attention of players.
