While the Senate debates the labor modernization bill promoted by the Government of Javier Milei, the far-left demonstrators gathered in the vicinity of Congress caused serious riots that have so far left three Gendarmerie officers and one Federal Police officer injured, along with two criminals arrested.

According to what could be seen on television cameras, the situation worsened when a group of demonstrators began to throw stones and sticks at the federal officers stationed behind the security fence. As the minutes passed, the violence escalated even further with the appearance of Molotov cocktails, which forced the reinforcement of the preventive operation deployed in the area.

The same far-left extremists who initiated the aggression regrouped behind wooden shields, from where they prepared and threw incendiary bombs, in addition to gathering stones to continue the attacks. In parallel, damage was recorded on sidewalks of streets near Congress, which were broken up to obtain more projectiles.

Faced with this situation, the federal forces replied by using water cannon trucks with the objective of extinguishing the sources of fire and dispersing the demonstrators. The law enforcement forces remained in their position behind the fence without crossing the barrier or generating direct contact, in an attempt to contain the attacks from the left.

Among the groups identified on the front line of the incidents were members of MST and PTS, who threw stones and sticks from behind the security perimeter. During the clashes, they managed to forcibly remove one of the security fences placed in front of Congress.

So far, the confirmed toll is four injured police officers and two detained left-wing terrorists, while the conflicts continued intermittently in the area. The authorities are maintaining the operation to safeguard the legislative building and guarantee the conduct of the session.

The protest, which initially unfolded in relative calm, changed its scenario when the attacks against the security forces began. In this context, the debate on labor reform is moving forward inside Congress, amid a strong preventive deployment to preserve public order and ensure institutional order.
