The Lieutenant Governor of Mendoza will leave PRO and join La Libertad Avanza.

Hebe Casado will follow in Minister Bullrich's footsteps, who will formalize her adherence to La Libertad Avanza this afternoon

After several months of rumors, the vice governor of Mendoza, Hebe Casado, made official her decision to leave PRO of Mauricio Macri to join the ranks of La Libertad Avanza, the party of President Javier Milei.

The announcement came a day after meeting with the Argentine president, and in line with the determination of the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, who this Tuesday afternoon will formalize her incorporation into the libertarian space.

In recent times, the vice governor had publicly expressed her growing distance from the leadership of PRO in Mendoza, as well as with the national leader of the party, the social-democratic former president Mauricio Macri. Although she had already been showing signs of rapprochement with La Libertad Avanza, her incorporation into the libertarian space was not yet finalized.

The decisive move that precipitated her departure was the step taken by Minister Patricia Bullrich, who plans to join the party led by Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency, this very afternoon. Casado stated that she will follow the same path and that in the coming days she will formalize her resignation from PRO and her adherence to La Libertad Avanza.

Patricia Bullrich's move

In the same vein, this morning it was announced that the Minister of National Security and former head of PRO, Patricia Bullrich, will formalize her incorporation into La Libertad Avanza this afternoon during an event that will be led by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, and the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni.

The affiliation will be signed at 6 PM in an iconic square in the City of Buenos Aires, according to party sources. Bullrich, who was the last presidential candidate of Juntos por el Cambio, led PRO until early 2024, when she distanced herself from the space after differences with the social-democratic former president Mauricio Macri.

After being left out of the runoff in the 2023 elections, Bullrich chose to support La Libertad Avanza, accompanied by her then running mate, Luis Petri, current Minister of Defense. The former presidential candidate gave her public and unconditional support before the so-called Acassuso Pact, in which Milei and Macri agreed to join forces to defeat the Kirchnerist Sergio Massa.
