Llaryora announced the completion of the National Highway Route 19
Córdoba will complete a key project for regional integration and road safety
The governor of Córdoba, Martín Llaryora, announced the call for bids to complete the National Highway Route 19, an essential infrastructure for connectivity between San Francisco and the city of Córdoba. The project will be financed and executed by the province and aims to boost productive development and improve road safety in the region.
“It's a historic day. This is a strategic project for Córdoba, the country, the Central Region, and Mercosur,” said Llaryora.
A long-awaited project that will boost development
The National Route 19 project is considered a strategic corridor for both national and international transit. It is part of the bi-oceanic corridor that connects the Atlantic with the Pacific, and according to official estimates, more than three million vehicles travel this route annually.
Llaryora emphasized that this project will transform what is currently known as “the road of death” into “the road of life and progress”, by substantially improving safety conditions for users.

Main features of the new National Highway Route 19
The work involves the execution of 62.9 kilometers (39.1 miles), divided into three sections, which will allow for more efficient progress in construction.
Project details:
- Interchanges in Devoto, Colonia Marina, Tránsito, and Los Chañaritos.
- Six grade-separated returns.
- Two 150-meter (492-foot) bridges over the Xanaes River.
- Shoulders, service roads, and drainage.
- Lighting, signage, and landscaping.
The design includes two lanes per direction, full access control, and service roads, in a flat rural layout that will allow a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph).
A project that strengthens regional integration
Fabián López, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, highlighted the importance of Route 19 for regional integration:
“There have been commitments made since 2016. The project was halted in 2019, and the Province decided to take the step to reactivate it. It's essential for the bi-oceanic corridor of Mercosur.”
Meanwhile, the mayor of Córdoba, Daniel Passerini, emphasized the strategic impact:
“This project connects five departments of the province and strengthens integration with the Central Region and Mercosur. It's federalism, regionalization, and development.”
