A retiree killed one of the thieves who tried to rob him in his home.

During the confrontation, the deceased criminal's accomplice shouted from outside: 'Kill him, kill him, kill him!'

A 77-year-old retiree defended himself from an attempted robbery and murder in his Playa Grande home and ended up killing one of the two thieves who assaulted him during the early morning while he was sleeping.

According to information confirmed by official sources, the incident occurred around 3:30 at the house located at Carlos Pellegrini 3002. Two criminals forced entry through a window, breaking a grille, and one of them entered with clear intent to rob, while the other stayed outside keeping watch.

At that moment, the owner, a retiree who worked in rural administration tasks and was sleeping in the room next to where the assailants were, took his weapon and began to struggle with the criminal.

According to various media outlets, during the confrontation, the accomplice outside shouted: "Kill him, kill him, kill him!" It was then that the retiree shot the thief he was grappling with.

According to sources, the man reportedly fired at least twice. As a result, the thief, about 25 years old and of robust build, died at the scene, while his accomplice managed to escape. The deceased criminal had criminal records and active arrest warrants.

A couple of neighbors living across from the retiree's house crossed the street and assisted him. The man, who has children but lives alone, was in shock and had a wrist injury sustained during the fight.

The retiree was summoned as a witness by the police, who arrived at the scene with personnel from the ninth precinct, with jurisdiction in the area, and from the Naval Prefecture, which was patrolling the area. Meanwhile, the woman stayed with the victim.

Prosecutor Romina Díaz appeared at the property and initiated an investigation, although she did not impose any restrictive measures on the homeowner's freedom, as she considers it a clear and evident case of self-defense.

Like throughout Kicillof's province, local residents have been demanding greater police presence for months and questioning the local precinct authorities due to the increase in crimes and acts of violence.

In this context, Hilda, a neighbor living a few meters from where the incident occurred, commented: "I've lived here for 34 years, and the area is worse than ever. They don't pay attention to us. There are no police. There are no patrol cars, or they never pass by. I sleep with the window with bars open, with an alarm, with the dog. I've been robbed before. We're scared".
