What happened to Luis Ventura?
On Sunday, July 27, while he was at Central Ballester's field, Ventura was brutally assaulted. The incident took place inside the club, with witnesses present, and was recorded on video.
The attack caused him serious injuries and forced him to be hospitalized. For this reason, he was unable to attend the Martín Fierro de Radio awards ceremony.
"I saw them with knives in their hands"
Ventura shared his experience on the show ¿Y mañana qué?, hosted by Luciana Geuna. There, he stated that he identified the strikers and that everything happened in plain sight, without anyone being detained.
"They hit me inside the club and on the field. They kicked me in the head while I was on the ground! Is that clear?" he said indignantly. He added that he saw the strikers with knives in their hands.
AFA promises to take action, but Ventura wants more
According to his account, AFA's treasurer, Pablo Toviggino, called him to guarantee that sanctions would be applied to the institution. However, Ventura stated that he will still initiate legal action against Ballester.
He also reported that Victoriano Arenas, the team he manages, was penalized with the same sanctions as the attacking club, despite having been the victim of the incident.
Corruption and illegal betting
During the interview, the journalist also linked the attack to a network of illegal betting that affects lower division clubs. He said there are attempts at bribery so that teams "throw the game."
"Some matches are scheduled at times that favor betting in Russia," he pointed out. He also accused club officials and barras of allowing violent individuals onto the field.

"They spoil the freshness of clean soccer"
Ventura promised to continue revealing names and facts related to corruption in Argentine soccer. He pointed directly at an individual who, according to him, "bribes kids."
"The brute and coward who left me like this is named Sebas Maurito," he wrote on Instagram, although he avoided giving the full last name. His report exposes a problem that, he claims, contaminates the lower divisions.
