Macabre discovery in Córdoba: a corpse was hidden in a wardrobe in the city centre

He was found by construction workers. The place had been inhabited by a former police officer convicted of a crime in 2007

A body in an advanced state of decomposition was found this Saturday in a wardrobe in downtown Córdoba. Two construction workers notified the police after detecting a strong odor in a building on Buenos Aires Street at 300. Upon entering, the officers found the corpse wrapped in blankets and tied with a cable.

The discovery took place in apartment 3° B, whose door was barely held in place with boards. The residence was described as precarious and disorganized. The scene is now under investigation by the District 1, Turn 5 Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutor María Celeste Blasco, substituted by Florencia Espósito, is leading the proceedings. Due to the condition of the body, the sex could not be determined. It is presumed that the remains had been hidden for at least two years.

THE APARTMENT HAD BEEN OCCUPIED BY A FORMER POLICE OFFICER

The building manager indicated that the property had been rented by Javier Grasso. However, the person residing there was his brother, Horacio Grasso. The latter is a former police officer convicted of the murder of a child in 2007.

Horacio Grasso was granted house arrest and wore an electronic ankle monitor. Nevertheless, he was returned to Bouwer prison days before the discovery. The police confirmed that the body doesn't belong to either of the brothers.

Javier Grasso was located and gave testimony before the prosecutor's office. He stated that he was unaware of what had happened inside the apartment. The investigation is now seeking to identify the victim and determine whether it was a homicide.

HORACIO GRASSO, A TROUBLED JUDICIAL RECORD

Horacio Grasso was sentenced by Córdoba's 3rd Criminal Chamber to 27 years in prison. The ruling held him responsible for the death of Facundo Novillo, a 6-year-old child struck by a FAL bullet during a drug-related shootout. The incident occurred on March 26, 2007, in Colonia Lola.

Before the crime, Grasso had already been dismissed from the force for robbing a clothing store. His repeated offenses led to multiple warnings. Despite his record, in 2019 he was granted house arrest for health reasons.

In 2024 he violated the terms of house arrest after assaulting his mother in a violent episode. Even so, he was again granted the benefit, now with electronic monitoring. The case raises new questions about the controls within the penitentiary system.
