The agreement with Atlético Nacional is closed, but disagreements between the player and Xeneize halted the signing of the contract and the transfer was left in suspense

When everything indicated that everything seemed solved, Marino Hinestroza's arrival at Boca added a new chapter of uncertainty. Although the agreement with Atlético Nacional is completely finalized, contractual differences between the footballer and the Ribera club halted the deal in recent hours.

The negotiation with the Colombian institution did not undergo any changes: Boca agreed to purchase 100% of his rights for an amount close to 5 million dollars, in addition to a 20% capital gain for Atlético Nacional in the event of a future sale that exceeds the amount of the current transfer. However, the problem arose directly in the personal agreement with the 23-year-old winger.

People close to Hinestroza state that the contract the player received doesn't match what had previously been verbally agreed with the Xeneize board. The financial differences delayed the signing and left the transfer on stand-by, while both parties wait to reach common ground.

Although he had been informally announced as the first blue-and-gold signing for the 2026 season, reality shows that Hinestroza remains in Colombia, while Claudio Úbeda still has no new faces in preseason. In that context, for the match against Millonarios the coach will bet on Brian Aguirre and Exequiel Zeballos on the wings, with Miguel Merentiel as the only center forward.

Despite the repeated setbacks, people at Boca remain optimistic and trust that the differences will be solved without major complications. If the negotiations reach a successful conclusion, Hinestroza, who has not played an official match since December 17 and has not trained with the squad since then, could join right at the deadline for the transfer window, scheduled for Tuesday, January 20.

Hinestroza's numbers at Atlético Nacional

Since his arrival at Verdolaga at the beginning of 2024, the Colombian forward has played just over 6000 minutes spread across 84 matches, in which he scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists. In addition, he celebrated four titles: one Liga Betplay (2024), one Supercopa de Colombia (2025), and two Copa Colombia (2024 and 2025).
