Williams Alarcón is close to obtaining Argentine citizenship, a step that would allow the club to free up a foreign-player slot and expand its room for maneuver in the transfer market.
According to reports, the Chilean midfielder would complete his naturalization between January and February, which he had started last year. Once the process is completed, he will no longer occupy one of the spots designated for foreign players, in a context where AFA regulations allow up to six foreign players in the squad, but only five on the match sheet for each game.

Currently, Boca has all its slots filled with Alarcón himself, Carlos Palacios, Ander Herrera, Marino Hinestroza, Edinson Cavani and Marcelo Saracchi. It is worth clarifying that in the case of the Uruguayan full-back, his loan to Celtic in Scotland until June doesn't free up a spot.
