Mario Pergolini opened up about his most intimate side: what it meant to be a father

The host surprised everyone by talking about his children and how fatherhood transformed his life

At 61 years old, with a four-decade career in the media and more than 30 years of marriage, Mario Pergolini has always kept his private life shielded. He has never shown his wife or allowed photos of his three children to be published. For this reason, every time he chooses to break that silence, his words make an impact.

On the show Otro día perdido, the former host of Caiga Quien Caiga surprised everyone by opening up about his role as a father and moved the audience with a reflection full of tenderness.

"There's always more room in the heart"

The conversation took place while he was interviewing Emilia Attias, who was talking about her experience as a mother. There, Pergolini confessed how difficult it is to explain what it means to have a child: "It's very strange to tell someone who hasn't had them what it's like to have one. There's no way to explain it."

The host recounted that with each child, life changes completely. "When they tell you you're going to have a second one, you think: I love the first one so much, I'm not going to have love for the second. But the second is born, and you realize there's more room in the heart. It's something else, because one and the other are not the same," he pointed out.

The reflection extended to the moment when his third child arrived: "Then you say, how are we going to have three? But when the third arrives... it's a love, an enormous love. It's something truly beautiful."

Proud of his three children

Father of Tomás, Matías, and Valentina, Pergolini acknowledged that his children have become a "permanent map" in his mind and in his life: "It doesn't matter where you are or how you are, you always have them present."

Each of them chose professional paths far from the cameras: from music to communication and audiovisual production. For the journalist, that independent direction is a source of pride.

Reserved and critical as rarely in his public life, Pergolini hinted that fatherhood has marked him irreversibly.  "They are my true map, I always carry them with me," he summed up. This phrase revealed that, behind the media and rebellious persona, he found his greatest transformation in his role as a father.
