Maravilla Martínez's reaction after learning about his enormous release clause
The top scorer renewed his contract until 2028, will receive one of the best contracts in the country, and stated that he doesn't rule out retiring at the club
Racing has finalized a historic agreement to secure the continuity of Adrián Maravilla Martínez, its main figure. After the departure of Maximiliano Salas to River, the management decided to shield the 32-year-old forward, who signed a contract until December 2028 and will have a release clause of 122 million euros, the highest in the history of Argentine soccer.
Las palabras de Maravilla luego de renovar con Racing
In an interview with the club's official website, Maravilla expressed his happiness about this step that could seal his professional career: "I'm very happy. It's a big step for me to make the decision to perhaps retire at this club. It's something very special because the truth is that I didn't expect it".
The top scorer also appreciated the management's effort and the fans' affection, which were key to making the renewal possible: "The people who run the club and the fans who asked so much for me made it possible for me to stay here. Thank you for all the affection and everything you give me. I hope we can continue at this level and maintain it during these seasons for which I signed, so that we can have more joy together with this club".

In addition to the new contract, Martínez will receive a significant salary increase, which will make him one of the highest-paid in the country. With this decision, Racing seeks to ward off interest from other clubs, especially after Flamengo and River emerged as possible destinations for the forward.
The management emphasizes that the goal is for Maravilla to finish his career in Avellaneda and establish himself as one of its great contemporary idols. With his renewal, Racing strengthens its sports project and retains its top scorer to keep dreaming big.
