After the strong commotion that broke out on social media,Maxi López decided to come out and offer explanations. The former player clarified why his son Lando's birth was brought forward and denied that the decision had anything to do with work-related issues.
The clarification came after several criticisms that circulated in recent days. According to what he explained, it was all a medical issue and not a capricious choice, as it was interpreted at first.

What happened with Lando's delivery
In a conversation with Lape Club Social (América), Maxi López detailed how the process that ended in a C-section unfolded. He said that his wife, Daniela Christiansson, had an estimated due date of December 19 or 20.
"We decided to wait because she wanted a natural birth", he explained. However, after more than a week had passed since the estimated date, the doctors at the Geneva clinic made a different decision.
According to what he recounted, the baby already weighed 4.4 kilos (9.7 pounds), a key factor in ruling out a natural birth. "It was for a health issue, I didn't talk about this and it was misunderstood", he stated.
The criticism and the public clarification
López was blunt in denying reports that indicated he had requested to bring the delivery forward in order to travel earlier. "There wasn't any pressure, we waited more than nine months", he stressed.
He also recalled similar situations during his relationship with Wanda Nara. "It has happened to me before as well, I was always there for every birth", he added.

Why he returned to Argentina
The controversy coincided with his return to the country, which fueled speculation. For that reason, he also spoke on Sería Increíble (Olga), where he explained the real reasons for his trip.
"I came quickly because I need to find a house that is ready. In a few months my family can already travel", he said on air. He even confirmed that the move to Argentina is a decision that has already been made.
One of the central factors is his desire to be more present with Valentino, Constantino and Benedicto, the children he had with Wanda Nara. "I'm talking with Wanda so I can be close to the kids", he concluded.
