The sports car brand McLaren is once again selling cars in Argentina.

This is due to the opening of imports and the economic stabilization achieved by Milei's government

The prestigious sports car brand leading Formula 1, McLaren, has opened a store in Puerto Madero and resumed sales in Argentina thanks to the opening of imports and the economic recovery achieved by the Government of Javier Milei, after leaving the country in 2020 during Kirchnerism.

The brand debuted in Formula 1 in 1966 and, almost two decades later, in 1985, launched its own line of super sports cars, inspired by the technology of the top category in motorsport. This unit was relaunched in 2010 under the name McLaren Automotive, as part of the McLaren Group conglomerate.

Based in Woking, United Kingdom, McLaren stands out for manufacturing high-end sports cars, produced in limited quantities and with an craft-made approach. Its vehicles are distinguished by their innovation, advanced aerodynamics, and high performance, aimed at an exclusive audience such as motorsport enthusiasts and collectors.

Its departure and return

In Argentina, McLaren had a brief presence with a dealership located in Puerto Madero, where it sold models with prices ranging from 700,000 to 900,000 dollars. However, it had to withdraw from the country due to import restrictions, currency controls, and the economic crisis caused by the disastrous Kirchnerist government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner.

Now, under Javier Milei's administration, McLaren is returning to the Argentine market. The prestigious British brand will be represented in the country by Quantum Group, a company based in Chile, which has established a strategic alliance with Argentine businessman Sergio Trepat. Together, they will be responsible for importing the super sports cars manufactured in Woking for sale in the local market.

Sergio Trepat has a solid track record in the premium vehicle segment in Argentina. He is currently the owner of an official BMW dealership and has a deep understanding of the demanding audience that targets high-end brands like McLaren.

During its previous presence in the country, McLaren managed to sell models such as the 570S, 600LT, GT, and 720S. However, it has not yet been confirmed which range of vehicles will mark its return to the national market.
