Argentina's economy grew by 8% year-on-year in April, according to Econométrica's EMAE.

This strong estimated growth confirms that Javier Milei's government's economic plan is a complete success

The Argentine economy recorded year-on-year growth of 8% in April 2025, according to the Monthly Economic Activity Estimator (EMAE) prepared by the consulting firm Econométrica based on INDEC data.

This figure, the highest in recent years, represents a significant turnaround after decades of crisis and marks the beginning of a new phase of economic growth for the country.

The report shows that, after consecutive months of decline or stagnation due to the severe situation inherited from the Kirchnerist government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner, the economy began to grow steadily since September 2024.

Starting in January 2025, activity grew by 6.7% year-on-year, and continued the trend with 6.0% in February and 5.6% in March. Finally, April broke the ceiling with a jump to 8%, consolidating a strongly expansive phase.

The economic recovery achieved by Milei

This strong rebound is attributed to the policies promoted by President Javier Milei since he took office in December 2023. The elimination of the fiscal deficit through reduction of public spending, the elimination of monetary issuance, economic deregulation, tax cuts, and the implementation of structural reforms laid the foundations for this growth.

In addition, monetary and fiscal discipline significantly reduced inflation, which dropped from nearly 300% annually in 2023 to estimates below 30% in the second half of 2025. This phenomenon not only stabilized the macroeconomy but also strengthened market confidence and enabled a recovery in consumption and investment.

Further growth projections

Econométrica's data align with projections from international organizations. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates 5.5% growth for Argentina in 2025, while the World Bank and the OECD project figures close to 5%, highlighting Argentina as one of the fastest-growing economies worldwide this year.

BBVA Research, meanwhile, forecasts growth close to 5.5%, supported by increased exports and the inflow of investments in sectors such as energy, lithium, and agribusiness.

This strong 8% growth in April confirms that the libertarian government's economic plan is a complete success. In a complex regional context, Argentina stands out as a case of economic transformation based on fiscal discipline, economic freedom, and clear rules for investors.
