Meta launches smart glasses with Oakley on June 20, designed for athletes and extreme sports
The goal is clear: to provide a practical tool for recording tennis, skiing, cycling, and other sports, without relying on mounts or external cameras.
Meta returns to the smart glasses market, but this time with a proposal designed for athletes. In partnership with Oakley, it will launch this Friday, June 21 a new model focused on high performance.
The initiative targets those who practice extreme sports and want to capture their activities without using traditional cameras. The official presentation is already generating anticipation on social media.
The news became known through a teaser published on @oakleymeta, an Instagram account created specifically for this campaign. The video shows the Meta and Oakley logos together, in the style of the previous launch with Ray-Ban.
The announcement was shared by the official accounts of Meta, Oakley, and even Mark Zuckerberg. In addition, Meta's online store already displays a promotional banner with the phrase: "The next evolution arrives on June 21".
Unlike Ray-Ban Meta, which is more focused on urban life, these glasses have a sporty design. They are inspired by the Sphaera model, one of Oakley's most popular due to its lightweight and aerodynamic structure.
Although Meta hasn't confirmed all the technical details, it has emerged that they will include a front camera, ideal for capturing the action from a more natural angle. It is also expected:
The idea is to offer a less invasive experience than traditional cameras, without losing image quality or connectivity.
The official price will be announced this Friday, June 21, when the full announcement is made. However, it is estimated that they will be around 360 dollars.
There is little time left to find out whether these new glasses will captivate the most active users, and whether they can truly compete with the industry's major players.
