This Tuesday, July 8 marks the end of the delegated powers that Congress granted to President Javier Milei with the approval of the Bases Law. These special powers allowed the Executive Branch to move forward for a year with reforms in administrative, economic, financial, and energy areas without going through Congress.
With the expiration just around the corner and the Wednesday holiday for Independence Day, the Government is rushing to sign a package of decrees that will be published in the Official Gazette on Thursday.
Among the decisions being considered by the Casa Rosada are the reform of federal forces, the restructuring of decentralized agencies, and the elimination of trusts. The goal is to consolidate before Tuesday a set of measures that could otherwise face legislative resistance.
The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, left for last the reform of key institutions such as the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI), with the aim of closing the pre-electoral deregulation phase. Both entities, until now autonomous, will cease to be so and will become more dependent on the Ministry of Economy, which will thus have greater control over their budgets.
