Córdoba's traffic police increased traffic fines: how much will be paid for violations

The new reference amount is $1,313 per Fixed Unit. The most serious penalties can exceed 2.6 million pesos ($5,732,018)

Starting this Monday, a new tariff schedule for traffic fines is in effect in Córdoba, linked to the price of regular gasoline. The value of the Fixed Unit (UF), the basis for calculating violations, has been updated to $1,313 according to what was published in the Official Gazette. The measure was established by the General Directorate for the Prevention of Traffic Accidents through Resolution 35/2025.

Provincial Law 8560 establishes that the price of the UF must be tied to the lowest value of a liter of regular gasoline. The new value will remain in effect until a new resolution is formally issued to modify it. The update is aligned with the latest fuel adjustment.

With this change, the cost of penalties has increased considerably for all types of traffic violations. From minor offenses to the most dangerous ones, the economic value of the fines represents a blow to the wallet. Authorities maintain that the new scheme seeks to discourage reckless behavior behind the wheel.

HOW MUCH WILL BE PAID ACCORDING TO THE SEVERITY OF THE VIOLATION

Minor violations, such as smoking while driving, range from 20 to 100 UF and cost between $26,260 and $131,300. This type of offense also includes the loss of up to 2 points on the license, according to the discretion of the intervening officer. Although minor, repeated violations of this kind can have a cumulative impact on the driver's score.

Serious violations, such as driving without headlights on, entail penalties ranging from 100 to 200 UF. That amounts to sums ranging from $131,300 to $262,600, with a loss of between 2 and 5 points. Driving while distracted or without complete documentation also falls into this category.

Very serious violations include running red lights, driving against traffic, or exceeding the permitted speed limit. These offenses are penalized with fines of 200 to 400 UF, that is, from $262,600 to $525,200. In addition, they entail a significant loss of points, which can reach up to 20.

MAXIMUM FINES CAN EXCEED TWO AND A HALF MILLION PESOS

Maximum violations include driving under the influence of alcohol or destroying road infrastructure. They range from 1,200 to 2,000 UF, which translates into penalties ranging from $1,575,600 to $2,626,000. This also applies to cases of license forgery, document tampering, and serious repeat offenses.

These fines are the most severe and are intended to penalize behaviors that endanger others. The Highway Police will increase controls during winter vacations and long weekends. Provincial government officials state that there will be no leniency regarding dangerous violations.
