Milei's government announced private communication networks for major industries
100 MHz of the radio spectrum will be allocated to large industrial companies
The National Communications Entity (Enacom) announced in recent hours the allocation of private-use radio spectrum intended for vertical markets, a measure aimed at promoting the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Argentina.
According to authorities, this initiative seeks to boost the growth of strategic sectors of the national industry and strengthen key activities for the country's economic and social development.
Within this framework, the concept of Private Wireless Broadband System (Spiba) was introduced, defined as a radio system that uses digital wireless access and cellular frequency reuse for data transmission and broadband internet access. This system may be used privately by its holder, complementing the specific activity of each company or institution that implements it.

Spiba will operate in the 2300 to 2400 MHz band, divided into ten channels of 10 MHz each. Two implementation modalities are considered: "Interior," for coverage in enclosed spaces such as factories, warehouses, and buildings; and "General," designed for outdoor installations, including ports, mining sites, and other industrial and logistics operation areas. This differentiation will allow the technology to be adapted to the needs of each sector, ensuring efficiency and flexibility in spectrum use.
Regarding the spectrum allocation process, Enacom determined that four channels will be allocated to Spiba Interior systems and will be assigned on demand. Another four channels will be allocated to Spiba General systems and will be awarded through bidding. In addition, two channels are reserved with flexible allocation, which may be used according to the specific needs and conditions of each applicant.

In each area of operation, the regulatory body may assign up to six channels per applicant in the Interior modality, provided that spectrum availability allows it. Meanwhile, the maximum number of channels for Spiba General will be defined once the registration period for interested parties has ended.
With this measure, the Government of Javier Milei seeks not only to modernize the country's technological infrastructure, but also to provide companies and industries with efficient tools to enhance their development through connectivity and digitalization.
