Milei's government is preparing a system of discounts and benefits for the military.
The program includes the families of military personnel and will not entail an increase in government spending
After announcing benefits in supermarkets and other stores aimed at retirees, the Government of Javier Milei is now moving forward with a program of discounts and promotions intended for military personnel and their families.
The initiative, called "Military Family," is expected to be launched in the first days of September through the Ministry of Defense, which will continue to be led by Luis Petri at least until the end of the year, at which time he will resign to take up a position in Congress if he is elected by Mendoza in the upcoming elections.
As with senior citizens, the Executive Branch assures that this program will not entail any cost to the State, since it will consist of agreements with private companies that will cover the costs of the measure.
In return, participating companies will be able to access a potential market of around 1,100,000 people, which includes active military personnel, retirees, reservists from the Armed Forces, and civilian staff from the three branches, as well as from centralized and decentralized agencies and state-owned companies.
The program will also cover teachers and students from military training institutes, members of the Armed Forces Social Security Institute (IOSFA) and their families, as well as veterans of the Malvinas War and the direct relatives of those who fell in that conflict.

Benefits for military personnel
According to various sources, in food and supermarkets the aim will be to offer discounts both in large chains and in wholesale, retail, and neighborhood stores.
In clothing and household items, the program provides for discounts in clothing, footwear, bookstores, technology, and other product stores, ensuring prices equivalent to wholesale or fixed reductions on the list price.
Meanwhile, in transportation and tourism, reduced rates will be implemented for land, river, and air services, with the possibility of extending them to the family group, in addition to agreements with hotels, travel agencies, and military vacation resorts.
In the area of health and well-being, Milei's government plans to sign agreements with pharmacies, optical stores, and private medical service providers, in order to offer discounts on medications, eyeglasses, and other supplies not covered by health insurance. The proposal will also include gyms and sports activities.
In education, the Ministry of Defense plans to negotiate with universities, training institutes, and language teaching centers to establish reductions in enrollment and tuition fees.

The scheme also includes benefits in the technology sector, mainly with mobile phone, internet, and software companies, through discounts on service plans or reductions in the purchase of electronic devices. Promotions are also planned for auto insurance, banks (free accounts, cards with benefits), and other services of interest for households.
In the recreational field, members of the Armed Forces would have advantages in tickets for shows, cinemas, museums, and sporting events, as well as easier access to summer camps, discounts at car dealerships, adventure tourism companies, clubs, and professional associations.
According to reports, the access mechanism will be simple: participating stores will display a sign at the entrance and beneficiaries will only need to present their ID and provide their CUIL.
Store employees will be able to verify participation in the program through a system provided by the Ministry of Defense and, initially, they will be invited to thank the customer for their service to the country.
"We want the supermarket cashier, after applying the discounts and charging the customer, to say to the member of the Armed Forces 'thank you very much for your service.' It's a gesture, but it helps to begin to restore the relationship with society," sources consulted by Infobae explained.
