Milei's government has initiated the privatization process of Belgrano Cargas.
Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni confirmed it today during his press conference
The Government of Javier Milei, through the Ministry of Economy, has formally initiated the privatization process of Belgrano Cargas y Logística S.A. in a decision aimed at reconfiguring the country's freight railway system.
The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, confirmed this Thursday that a period of 12 months has been set to carry out the sale of the company as part of the deregulation and reduction of the State plan promoted by the libertarian administration.
The measure was set forth in resolution 1049/2025 published in the Official Gazette and represents the execution of what is established in the Bases Law (27,742), which declared the company "subject to privatization," as well as the provisions of decree 67/2025, which authorized its vertical disintegration and the separation of activities.

The process includes both the public auction of rolling stock and the concession by tender of the tracks of the Belgrano, San Martín, and Urquiza lines, which cross 16 provinces. In this context, the Secretariat of Transportation must carry out a complete inventory of the available rolling stock, report on the condition of the assets, assemble the lots to be auctioned, and define the conditions for the auction.
Meanwhile, Milei's government plans to tender the concession for the use of the railway tracks, along with adjacent properties, workshops, tools, and major machinery. For this, a technical survey of the current state of the infrastructure and the assets included in the process will be necessary.

Banco Nación will be the body responsible for administering the funds obtained from the auction of the rolling stock. According to reports, these funds will be allocated to financing future railway works as part of a model of resource optimization and logistical efficiency.
The libertarian administration clarified that the land and railway tracks will remain property of the national State and will revert to its control once the concessions are concluded.
With this decision, Milei's government is moving forward with one of the most significant privatizations since the enactment of the Bases Law, deepening its structural reform plan for the State and attracting the interest of investors in the logistics and railway sectors.
