The Argentine president highlighted the economic potential of the proposal for Mendoza and the country
On the eve of a key vote in the Mendoza Legislature, President Javier Milei publicly expressed his support for the PSJ Project Cobre Mendocino, an initiative that could mark a turning point for the provincial mining sector.
Through a message shared on the social network X, the president highlighted the economic potential of the proposal and strongly criticized Kirchnerism's stance regarding the sector's development.
According to Milei, the legislative session scheduled for tomorrow represents a decisive opportunity for Mendoza's economy. “Tomorrow the Mendoza Legislature has the enormous opportunity to give final approval to the PSJ Cobre Mendocino Project, which will bring an investment of 600 million dollars to put into production a mine with an annual output of 40,000 metric tons (88,185 pounds) of copper concentrate,” the President emphasized, underlining the magnitude of the investment and its potential impact.

The head of state also used the message to highlight the resistance of opposition sectors to the project's progress. “To no one's surprise, Kirchnerism doesn't support it. Following the pattern of the last 25 years, always standing against the private sector, investment, progress, and work,” he stated.
Regarding the vote, Milei expressed optimism about the outcome and stressed that the province faces a unique opportunity in two decades. “Even so, we trust that the project will be approved, because this is the closest Mendoza has come to definitively launching mining in the last 20 years,” he assured.
In his message, the President again referred to the strategic role he assigns to mining within the economic model promoted by his administration. “This new Argentina will grow hand in hand with the three main drivers of the economy: agriculture, energy, and mining,” he pointed out, reinforcing the idea that the sector will be one of the engines of national development.

Milei also highlighted Mendoza's international position in the wine industry and suggested that the province has similar conditions to compete in the global mining market. “Mendoza is a highly competitive province that has positioned its emblematic wines in the world's most demanding markets. With the same level of competitiveness, it now seeks to position itself as a mining producer,” he stated.
The President concluded his post by renewing his support for the province and those promoting the project. “All our support to the province and to everyone who wants a freer and more prosperous Argentina, just as we've promoted for over a year with the enactment of the May Pact. LONG LIVE FREEDOM, DAMN IT...!!!”
