In an interview with Gabriel Anello on Radio Mitre, Javier Milei set aside the political agenda for a moment to talk about one of his passions: soccer. He did so with special devotion for Martín Palermo, whom he described as the player who influenced him the most as a Boca fan.
"When Palermo retired, the day he was given the goalpost, I stopped going to Boca's stadium. I couldn't bear the sadness I felt seeing Martín retire. There were so many moments of joy that I couldn't go back," he said emotionally.
With a trembling voice, he recalled the pain he felt with the Albiceleste: "I suffered watching Martín Palermo miss penalties. I cried inconsolably when he missed all three with the Argentina National Team."
He also recalled other iconic nights, such as qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in the rain at the Monumental: "Do you know how I shouted the goal he scored at the World Cup? Or how I shouted when, thanks to that goal, we qualified at River's stadium on the rainy day."
