For the ultra-Democratic mayor of Minneapolis, the city where the tragic shooting took place this morning in which an anti-Trump transgender individual killed Catholic children attending mass, he couldn't think of a better idea than to use his office to defend the trans community instead of focusing on the victims of the episode.
In a press conference held this Wednesday afternoon, Jacob Frey said that "he has heard about the great hatred being directed toward our trans community" and that "anyone who is using this as an opportunity to demonize our trans community, or any other community, has lost their sense of common humanity."
After declaring that the focus shouldn't be on the gender identity and mental state of the shooter, Frey then went on to call for greater regulation of gun ownership. "In this country, there are more guns than people. We all must recognize that we can't just say this shouldn't happen again and then allow it to happen over and over again."

What is known about the shooter.
The perpetrator of the shooting—who took the lives of two children, injured another 20 people, and then took his own life with the same weapon—was identified as Robert Westman, a 23-year-old who changed his name and had begun identifying as a woman in 2019.
The murderer's mother, Mary Grace Westman, who worked as a secretary at Annunciation Catholic School until her retirement in 2021, was the one who signed the document approving the name change from Robert to Robin, according to official documents.
