The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, announced that a trade agreement with the United States will be announced, in the context of the scheduled meeting for this Tuesday between President Javier Milei and Donald Trump.
The official explained that the relationship between Trump and Milei is developing on two levels: one related to the assistance of the U.S. Treasury, the foreign exchange market, and the swap, and another more confidential, which has been in the works for several months, aimed at signing a trade agreement.
“We're going to have a rather unprecedented trade agreement with the U.S., and that agreement will allow certain sectors of our economy to have privileged access to the North American market”, Sturzenegger stated.
The minister added that this step represents “the beginning of a path toward trade opening between the two countries” during an interview with La Casa Streaming.

Sturzenegger added that “managing a government means making things happen, such as these billions in investments, the OpenAI deal with the $25 billion investment. If you get upset because Milei says "caca," that's your problem. What will change Argentina are these essential transformations”.
President Javier Milei and Donald Trump will hold a meeting this Tuesday at the White House with the goal of strengthening their personal rapport and advancing a strategic alliance between Argentina and the United States. The meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (Argentine time) and will include a brief appearance before the press in the Oval Office before the start of the bilateral dialogue.
The meeting agenda will be broad, although the main topics will revolve around the stability of the economic program, financial assistance mechanisms, the strengthening of the trade relationship, and the geopolitical strategy in the face of China's growing influence in the region.

Currently, the United States is Argentina's third-largest trading partner, behind Brazil and China. In the last decade, Argentine exports to that destination averaged USD 5.7 billion annually, reaching USD 6.464 billion in 2024.
Argentine products face a base tariff rate of 10% since the so-called “Liberation Day” last April, the lowest among those imposed by the Trump administration, although specific duties still persist, such as the 50% tariffs on aluminum and steel.
“A possible tariff reduction would be relevant to boost these sectors toward the world's third-largest domestic market with 342 million inhabitants”, Analytica consulting firm highlighted.
