An experimental mod already allows Hytale and Minecraft players to share servers in real time

An experimental project started to shake the gaming community: a crossplay mod between Hytale and Minecraft would allow players of both titles to share the same server.
Although it sounds almost impossible because of the technical differences between the games, the development has already shown concrete and surprising progress.
Minecraft (2011)
A mod that unites two sandbox worlds
Hytale seeks to challenge Minecraft's sandbox throne, but an independent developer decided to take another path: connect them. The result is a mod that allows clients of both games to coexist in the same environment.
The project is still a work in progress, but it has already achieved something unthinkable: players of Hytale and Minecraft can see each other and share space in real time.
How crossplay between Hytale and Minecraft works
The progress was shared on Reddit, within Hytale's subreddit, by the user SSquadTeam. The user posted images and technical details of the mod there, titled "Hytale Client & Minecraft Client Crossplay".
In addition, the developer (known as iamcxv7 on social media) released a one-minute video that shows the system working.
Two games, one single experience
In the images, it is observed how each player sees the world from their own graphics engine. The map is the same, but each game keeps its own visual style and presentation.

This creates an unprecedented experience: the same architecture and design, but with completely different aesthetics.
Current limitations and next steps
For now, the Hytale server acts as host and concentrates all the authority of the game. Minecraft clients can only see other players and Hytale users.
According to the creator's explanation, many functions are still broken or incomplete, which is logical at an early stage of development.

An open project for the future
The developer assured that the mod will be open source later on. This would allow other programmers to continue the work if the project stalls. "I have time and energy", he stated, making it clear that the initiative is serious.
Acceso anticipado: qué se sabe y qué incluirá
Beyond the enthusiasm, the mod could face legal obstacles and long-term compatibility issues. Keeping two constantly evolving games synchronized is no small task.
