San Lorenzo advanced to the next phase in a very tight manner. Although they had started winning against ArgentinosJuniors with a goal by Andrés Vombergar at the 69th minute, the Bicho managed to equalize the match near the end, forcing penalties. There, the Ciclón was able to prevail in a dramatic 8-7, thanks to a save by Orlando Gil and a conversion by Gastón Hernández.

With the pass to the semifinals secured, and awaiting River or Platense, the Cuervo returns to its already routine internal conflict. In that context, and immediately after the victory in La Paternal, Marcelo Moretti reappeared, claiming part of the credit.
Currently on leave after being involved in a bribery scandal that shook the blaugrana world, the president, who did not resign despite the pressure from Julio Lopardo, who took his place on an interim basis, resorted to his WhatsApp statuses to leave a strong message about this new achievement of the team.
From there, Moretti defended his management and stated that his sports planning for this 2025 was key, in a year in which San Lorenzo is also still alive in the Copa Argentina, where they must play the round of 32 with Quilmes. "We are in the semifinals. When we assembled this squad and this coaching staff with Miguel (Russo) we imagined and dreamed of this achievement. Today it is a reality," he wrote.

In that same post, he dedicated a few words to both the fans and the team: "Our fans deserve this joy. Congratulations to the squad for this triumph against all odds."
This is not the first public appearance of the leader on social media in recent days. After the agonizing victory against Tigre at the Nuevo Gasómetro, which allowed San Lorenzo to advance to the quarterfinals, Moretti once again declared his innocence and hinted at his intention to return to the position: "Time puts everything and everyone in their place. Always with God as a witness of the witness."
