The national broadcast by Javier Milei about the Malvinas became the most viewed of 2026 this Thursday, with an average of 28.6 rating points among free-to-air channels and news signals, with an audience exceeding 1,750,000 people.

According to the measurements released after the presidential message, the broadcast began at 9 PM with over 30 points of engagement and maintained those levels for the just over 15 minutes that the speech lasted.

This data positioned Milei's fourth national broadcast of the year above previous presidential interventions. The opening of ordinary sessions on March 1 had reached a maximum of 21.3 points, while the message related to the court ruling on the expropriation of YPF peaked at 24.3 points.

Later, the broadcast in which the Government announced the reform of the Central Bank's Organic Charter started with 28.3 points, although it lost 4.7 units during the transmission. In contrast, the message this Thursday ended around 29 points, just below the level it had started with.

The President focused his intervention on defending Argentina's claim over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia, and South Sandwich Islands, and the corresponding maritime areas. “The Malvinas are Argentine by history and by right, there is no discussion about it,” Milei stated at the beginning of the speech, before emphasizing that “the Malvinas cause does not belong to any political party, it is a national cause.”

During the national broadcast, the head of state also warned about the advancement of the oil project Sea Lion and assured that Argentina will not remain passive in the face of the exploitation of natural resources in areas whose sovereignty the country claims.

In this context, Milei announced a decree aimed at strengthening sanctions against companies that illegally exploit Argentine resources and announced the submission to Congress of the National Sovereignty Defense Law. Additionally, he confirmed the creation of a National Security Council and anticipated that the Government will accelerate the construction of the Integrated Naval Base in Tierra del Fuego, in a strategic location facing the South Atlantic and the Malvinas Islands.

The strong audience recorded during the message thus supported a national broadcast focused exclusively on an issue that the Government defined as strategic for national interests. “Argentina will not stand idly by,” Milei asserted during his intervention, which concluded with a “Long live the Homeland” and a call to “make Argentina great again.”
