The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, reaffirmed this Friday his alignment with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Iranian nuclear threat and stated that both governments maintain a common stance to prevent the Islamic Republic from developing atomic weapons.

"As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not have nuclear weapons. There is total agreement between President Trump and me on this issue", Netanyahu stated through an official statement.

The statements come just a day after Trump announced significant progress in talks with Tehran and anticipated the possibility of reaching an agreement in the short term.

Israel supports the conditions imposed by the United States

According to the Israeli Prime Minister's office, Netanyahu held a phone conversation with Trump during which he was informed about the details of the memorandum of understanding that Washington seeks to use as a basis for a new round of negotiations with the Iranian regime.

Although Israel is not directly participating in the talks, the Israeli government expressed its satisfaction with the commitments made by the Trump administration.

Among the points that Jerusalem considers fundamental are:

  • The elimination of enriched uranium accumulated by Iran.

  • The dismantling of the nuclear enrichment infrastructure.

  • Strict limits on the development of ballistic missiles.

  • The end of Iranian funding and support for terrorist organizations in the Middle East.

Netanyahu's office emphasized that Trump committed to include these aspects in any definitive agreement that may be reached with Tehran.

The Iranian nuclear program remains the main concern

The Israeli government considers that the Iranian nuclear program represents the greatest threat to regional security.

For years, Israel has denounced that the nuclear activities of the ayatollah regime exceed the declared civilian purposes and could lead to the manufacture of atomic weapons.

Netanyahu's position aligns with Trump's, who has insisted that any agreement must ensure that Iran can never obtain nuclear weapons.

The negotiations are also taking place in a context of high regional tension, marked by recent clashes between forces backed by Tehran and Israel, as well as by the crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy routes.

Iranian media talk about a possible regional ceasefire

Meanwhile, the Iranian agency Mehr reported this Friday that there is a draft agreement between Washington and Tehran that includes a "permanent and immediate cessation of hostilities" in various conflict fronts, including Lebanon.

According to the publication, the document would also establish a period of 60 days of negotiations to resolve differences over the Iranian nuclear program and advance towards the lifting of U.S. economic sanctions.

However, Iranian official media also maintain that Tehran would not be willing to cede control of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main points of friction with the West.

The Trump administration has placed the Iranian issue among its top foreign policy priorities.

In addition to seeking a definitive solution to Tehran's nuclear program, Washington aims to ensure global energy stability and reduce the risk of a military escalation involving Israel, Iran, and their regional allies.

For now, both the White House and the Israeli government show total coordination regarding the strategic objectives of any eventual agreement.

Netanyahu's statement makes it clear that Jerusalem will support the negotiations as long as the final outcome guarantees the effective dismantling of Iran's nuclear capabilities and limits the regime's ability to continue funding terrorist organizations in the Middle East.
