After the worrying situation experienced by Spanish tennis player Nikolas Sánchez Izquierdo, Challenger de Rosario 2026 was once again involved in a serious episode of off-court violence. This Saturday, Argentine player Román Burruchaga reported that he had received death threats against himself and his family through WhatsApp messages, just a few hours before playing his semifinal in the tournament held at Jockey Club de Rosario.
According to the police report, the son of Selección Argentina legend Jorge Burruchaga received the messages while he was traveling in his private vehicle with his coach to the venue located at Eva Perón 8200. The texts, sent from an unknown foreign number, contained explicit threats, direct references to his family circle, personal data, and the concrete demand that he lose the match against his opponent, Taiwanese player Chun-Hsin Tseng, identified in the messages as "el Chino".

"Look carefully, snitch, son of a thousand bitches, today you have to lose against el Chino, we are in Rosario and we have photos showing where you are right now throughout our territory", they wrote to him. "Remember that we are going to send the green to your father, who is loaded with money, in Buenos Aires if you don't comply, just like to your mother Fabi, we have both of them located and also people from their jobs and their cell phones", they added.
"Lose against el Chino and we won't send in operations, we have enough guns to get to you and your family, who are loaded with gold, don't get out of line, comply properly without winning a single set and everything will stay here. If not, I promise you won't leave Rosario. Don't be an idiot and value your life, shut your mouth, ok?", they concluded.
