Nintendo Switch 2 excites studios with its power and ease of development
One of the first to express his enthusiasm was Dennis Shirk, executive producer of Civilization VII
With a launch scheduled for June 5, the Nintendo Switch 2 is already generating strong anticipation among development studios and the industry in general. The first impressions point to a significant technical leap compared to the original model, especially in terms of graphic performance, support for new features, and title optimization.
One of the first to express his enthusiasm was Dennis Shirk, executive producer of Civilization VII, who confirmed that the game will be available from the console's release day. Shirk noted that the development experience was “extremely positive,” while highlighting that the porting initiated in October allowed for visual performance comparable to a mid-range PC.
“We are extremely happy with the console's power,” Shirk assured, who also praised the support provided by Nintendo and the inclusion of peripherals like the mouse, which enhance the experience in strategy games.
Confirmed titles and notable improvements
Avalanche Software also confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy will arrive in an improved version, on which they worked for over a year. This new edition promises notable improvements in resolution, textures, lighting, and loading times compared to the version released on the original Switch.

According to developers, the new generation of Switch eliminates many of the technical limitations of its predecessor, opening the door to more ambitious revisions and more direct competition with more powerful consoles like PlayStation and Xbox.
What to expect from the Nintendo Switch 2?
Although Nintendo hasn't revealed the complete technical specifications yet, the development kits and tests conducted by studios indicate that the new system would be on par with a mid-range gaming PC.

Among the titles already confirmed for the initial catalog are:
- Civilization VII
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Elden Ring
- Hogwarts Legacy (improved version)
These announcements reinforce the perception that Nintendo is strongly betting on attracting more third-party support, something that historically wasn't the brand's focus.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will hit the market on June 5, and it is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year, both by fans and developers.
