They filed an appeal to keep the investigation open and allow a trial for the truth

Nora Dalmasso's family has decided to appeal to the Superior Court of Justice of Córdoba following the ruling that closed the case. Attorney María Ángeles Mussolini, representative of the family circle, confirmed the filing of an appeal against the Chamber's decision. The request seeks to overturn the decision that acquitted Roberto Marcos Bárzola and closed any possibility of moving forward with a new judicial process.

The appeal was filed after the Chamber overturned a previous ruling by the control judge, who had considered that the case was not time-barred. According to Mussolini, that ruling kept open the option of a truth trial to clarify responsibilities. The attorney described the judicial measure as "surprising" because it prevents even a symbolic instance aimed at uncovering the facts.

The legal representative stated that the Chamber's decision limits the possibility of accessing key information about what happened in 2006. In that context, she reiterated that the family insists on an ordinary trial as the main avenue, considering a truth trial as a minimal alternative. She emphasized that the motion aims to guarantee an institutional closure that provides certainty to Córdoba society.

The claim seeks to reopen the judicial debate

Mussolini recalled that a truth trial doesn't imply convictions, but would allow the facts to be reconstructed and possible responsibilities to be defined. "It would be a conviction without a sentence, something difficult to explain even for jurists, but it would be even more incomprehensible not to know the truth," she stated. According to the attorney, the claim doesn't seek sanctions, but rather moral reparation in the face of years of uncertainty.

The Dalmasso case has been ongoing for almost two decades with multiple lines of investigation that have never managed to establish those responsible. The defense keeps that the definitive closure represents a setback in the pursuit of justice and contradicts previous decisions by the Judiciary. For this reason, the appeal filed before the Superior Court of Justice seeks for the court to review the Chamber's actions and order the continuation of the process.

The attorney also linked this motion to the impeachment proceedings being conducted against the prosecutors involved in the case. She stated that "there are common elements," since the actions of the judicial officials are part of the reported irregularities. "We hope that the Superior Court will thoroughly analyze what happened and assess the errors that marked the case file," Mussolini concluded.
