The Minister of Economy, Luis "Toto" Caputo, assured that President Javier Milei will be re-elected “by a landslide” in the 2027 presidential elections and stated that the strong economic recovery projected by the Government will ultimately consolidate social and political support for the liberal model, after stabilizing an economy destroyed for decades by Kirchnerism.
During an extensive interview on the program “Economía de Quincho,” hosted by Damián Di Pace on Cadena 3, Caputo maintained that the economic recovery has already begun to be seen in various indicators and that the strongest rebound will come between May and June.
“It will be so obvious that Milei will win by a landslide that people will realize it beforehand. There will be fierce growth. The president will win in the first round and comfortably in 2027; the economy will sweep away politics,” affirmed the head of the Ministry of Economy.
The minister explained that the data from March already reflects positive signals in sectors such as construction and industry, while the process of disinflation driven by the fiscal and monetary adjustment implemented since December 2023 continues.
Additionally, he highlighted that the operation of 9,000 kilometers of roads in transport corridors will give a strong boost to economic activity and public works under concession schemes, in line with the private investment model promoted by the Government.
Caputo also emphasized that the central objective of the government is to reduce taxes, although he clarified that this will only be sustainable with economic growth and greater formalization. He explained that if Argentina manages to expand between 6% and 8% annually over the next few years, distortive taxes such as the check tax and withholdings could be eliminated.
The minister also took the opportunity during the interview to sharply differentiate the current Government from the administration of Mauricio Macri. He stated that while Macri's government inherited a fiscal deficit and avoided quickly advancing in the adjustment, Milei's government achieved a zero deficit practically from the first month, even without initial support from the markets.
“This Government is exactly the opposite of Macri,” Caputo stated, while asserting that the stability achieved in the face of external shocks demonstrates that the Argentine economy now has much stronger defenses than in the recent past.

The head of Economy also highlighted the growth of private credit, which rose from 3.8% to 11% of GDP, although he acknowledged that SMEs still face difficulties due to high rates derived from provincial and municipal taxes.
At the end, Caputo assured that society has already begun to identify economic populism with “hell” and stated that the cultural battle promoted by the government is advancing as more sectors understand that “the path to freedom is the right one.”
